I was driving home (this is where many of my best revelations come) and I began praying...”God, I don’t think I can do it another day, I might have to cheat today...I’m sorry in advance.” 😬

This small thought was so subtle that I didn’t even notice the lie. In that moment, it seemed true and even a little exciting.

Sometimes I get ahead of God. When I’m waiting for God to speak, for him to show me the answer, a direction to go, a conversation to have...and that answer doesn't when I want it to, I start trying to find the answers on my own.

No one likes to wait. It doesn’t really matter what it’s for, waiting is just no fun. Yet, waiting is a part of everyday life, we’re always waiting for something. So how do we find hope while we wait?

What does a day of rest look like for you? Not just a day off, I'm talking about the kind of Biblical rest that Jesus promises us.

He wants us to find rest in him that will fill us up and refresh us spiritually. A kind of rest that restores our soul and allows us to go out and do the work he’s called us to over and over again.

So how do we find this kind of rest?

The story of Abraham being asked to sacrifice his son Isaac is one that I've read many times over. It’s a powerful example of faith that has been for me, often more challenging than encouraging. Maybe you too know the story well, but let’s do a quick review before I share another verse that completely changed the way I read this story.

There were various phases that God brought me through to get me to this decision. In his infinite wisdom, I guess he knew that if he started with “hey, you’re moving to Cambodia” I would resist a little. That call seemed way too big at first, that call felt impossible honestly, but he guided me through it and eventually I was able to say “I’m moving to Cambodia” without freaking out.

I couldn't fight this pull to NYC because it was God calling me to a new place that He had already prepared for me.  He knew all the ways that my life would radically change with this one yes. A "calling", I learned is just God pulling you toward something great He has for you.  Something that will fulfill you and bring Him glory.  It's a pull towards something God has planted in your heart long before you were born.
